The author of this book is a professional database developer as well as a college professor. He decided to write his own material for his database classes since he was unable to find books that taught SQL in a friendly manner while providing the necessary skills employers seek. To ensure understanding, the author hired one of his students to assist in reviewing and critiquing the material so that the book includes a student’s perspective. The result is a SQL book that provides step by step instructions with plenty of graphics and examples to help students grasp the material and gain the skills needed for database related employment. The book comes with a full human resources database that can be downloaded from www.sqlstudents.com. The database is used throughout the book to work with examples as well as end of chapter exercises.
